Faugheen's Neptune Novices' Price Cut After "Staggering" Support

Faugheen has received a "Staggering" amount of support, to see his Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle odds drop.

The Willie Mullins-trained favourite has gone from 9/4 at Betfred to 11/8 - as Mullins and jockey Ruby Walsh look to repeat the blistering start they made to Cheltenham Festival yesterday.

Walsh won the Supreme Novices' Hurdle with Vautour in the festival's opening race and - with a wave of money backed on Faugheen shortening his price - many are predicting him to ride a Mullins winner home in the first race for the second time in as many days.

Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths told the Racing Post: “The confidence behind Faugheen is quite staggering. The market at Cheltenham is so strong that it takes serious money to move a horse from 7-4 to 11-8.

"It’s fair to say our whole day revolves around him and we desperately want him beat.”

Royal Boy's withdrawal this morning has also had a bearing on Faugheen's odds shortening - as the 7/1 shot's removal means that some early bets will now be subject to a Rule 4.

Also, place an Each Way bet on today's 1.30 Cheltenham Neptune Novices' Hurdle and get a free bet refund of up to £25, if your chosen horse finishes the race in fourth place.

New customers at Betfred will also qualify for their £25 welcome bonus as well, which sees the online bookmaker 100% match up to £25 of your first bet stake with a free bet.
