Paddy Power will refund losing singles and the win part of each way singles on the Champion Hurdle if Hurricane Fly is victorious this year.

It’s a brave call by Paddy Power as the nine-year-old is one of the most prolific hurdlers of the past decade and has won 14 Grade One races during an illustrious career. He won the Champion Hurdle in 2011 but disappointed last year when finishing third behind Rock On Ruby.

Connections maintained a series of training setbacks culminated in Hurricane Fly’s defeat as he arrived at Cheltenham with just one race under his belt. Jockey Ruby Walsh is confident his mount is back to his best after winning all three starts this season and thinks the bookies are crazy for taking him on.

"I can't understand why the bookmakers appear to be all out to get him. I'm delighted to be riding him - I'd hate to be laying him - and I think he'll take all the beating,” Walsh told the press on Monday.

The Champion Hurdle is due off at 3.20pm on Tuesday 12th March. New customers registering after following links on this website will get a £20 free bet for placing a £10 bet on Paddy Power.
