Ryanair Odds for Albertas Run hattrick bid

Johnjo O’Neil-trained Albertas Run is 10/1 with bet365 to win the Ryanair Chase for the third consecutive year at Cheltenham.

At eleven-year-old, the gelding is getting on a bit but seems to love the Cheltenham Festival where he has won on three of his four appearances including victories in the 2010 and 2011 renewals of the Ryanair Chase. Albertas Run has had just one race this season in a three-runner handicap at Aintree in October, which he won comfortably from Pure Faith and Master Minded. He faces a much stiffer test on day three of Cheltenham in a strong looking field of 13 runners.

Nicky Henderson’s Riverside Theatre is favourite at 9/2 and will be hugely popular following the record breaking trainer’s four-timer on Wednesday. The eight-year-old returned from a 12-month lay off to win in impressive fashion at Ascot last month. He’s expected to stay in touch with the leaders this time, unlike his last Cheltenham appearance when he looked like being tailed off before bounding through the field to finish fifth in the 2010 Arkle.

Somersby was runner up behind Sizing Europe in that race and has run well on a number of occasions at the Cheltenham Festival. Henrietta Knight’s gelding will be moving up to a longer distance and is 6/1 with bet365 after his return to winning form at Ascot in January, staying on strongly over a tough two miles to beat Finian’s Rainbow.

Noble Prince is a 7/1 chance and was a winner in the Jewson at Cheltenham last year, while 8/1 shot Medermit has been running well and is yet to finish out of the places this season.
