Big Buck's takes on twelve in World Hurdle

Big Buck’s takes on twelve rivals in his bid for a record fourth win in the World Hurdle on Thursday.

Paul Nicholls hurdling sensation has won the last three renewals of the stayers’ Championship at the Cheltenham Festival and is 8/13 with sportingbet to re-write the history books this week. Nine-year-old Big Buck’s has been champion staying hurdler for the last three years after a relatively unsuccessful attempt at chasing, but since reverting back to hurdling in January 2009, has been unbeaten in 15 starts.

In what looks the strongest field for several years, Oscar Whisky represents Nicky Henderson and leads the opposition ahead of Willie Mullins’ Thousand Stars. Mullins has four entries with last year’s third Mourad, So Young and Mikael D’Hagueneton also involved.

David Pipe saddles Dynaste and along with Colm Murph’s Voler La Vedette is another looking to spoil the party for the Nicholls’ yard.

Big Buck’s stablemates, Five Dream and King of the Night will line up for the three-mile race. Alan King runs his progressive grey Smad Place while Gordon Elliott's Carlito Brigante and Jennie Candlish's Cross Kennon complete the 13-strong field.
