Quito De La Roque is currently entered in the RSA Chase and National Hunt Chase for next month’s Cheltenham Festival and looks good for either of the races after running out clear winner at Navan on Sunday, running clear of the pack with 3 fences remaining at the end of last week.

Colm Murphy trained horse Quito De La Roque ran out comfortable 4 length winner in the Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan, continuing winning form heading towards this year’s Cheltenham Festival. Murphy’s gelding has now won 3 out of his last 4 starts, and conceded 5lbs to his four rivals in his latest outing.

The 7 year-old, owned by Gigginstown House Stud, has shown good form over the 3 miles distance ahead of the National Hunt Chase at the 2011 Cheltenham Festival. He was narrowly beaten at the end of last year by Bostons Angel, and has run out winner in his last two 3 mile events this season.

Murphy’s runner has produced very strong showings on heavy going in past races, and the going at Cheltenham may prove key to Quito De La Roque’s chances at this year’s Festival. After his Navan win, father of the trainer, Pat Murphy commented on his most recent performance;

”Quito De La Roque enjoyed it out there and heavy going is what he loves. He is getting stronger and maybe we’ll take on a bit of good ground at some stage with him.“

”Hopefully he’ll get his right conditions to win another big race or two before the season finishes though. I think he’ll be going to Cheltenham for either the RSA Chase or the four-miler.“
