Oscars Well 7/1 For Neptune's After Deloitte Stroll

Leopardstown's Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle was an opportunity for the highly regarded Zaidpour to enhance his Festival claims, but Willie Mullins's novice was put firmly in his place by the Jessica Harrington trained Oscars Well.

Always travelling supremely well in the quality contest, jockey Robbie Powers took over from Shot From The Hip and Hidden Universe approaching the last, and sprinted clear from the staying-on Zaidpour on the run to the line.

A delighted Harrington, said of the performance: " Oscars Well travelled really well in his race- I couldn't believe how easy he was going and went away under hands and heels.

"I was a bit worried about bringing him back to two-mile-two but they went a good gallop.

" He has plenty of pace, has now won over two and a half and two and a quarter and the Neptune Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham is the next logical step."

Available at 20/1 before today's race, the son of Oscar is now a best price 7/1 for the extended 2m 4f contest on March 16th, with only Nicky Henderson's Bobs Worth shorter in the market at a general 5/1.

With connections adamant that better ground will suit the six-year-old, Oscars Well certainly looks the one to beat in four weeks time, after today's convincing performance.
