Meade Still Wants To Run Pandorama In Cheltenham Gold Cup

Leading Irish hope Pandorama has injured a hock and been ruled out of the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown on Sunday week and is a doubt for the Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup in March .

Pandorama has won four of five starts over fences including most recently the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown in an impressive six length victory . Pandorama was the subject of a big gamble when landing the Lexus Chase and the eight year old was a top price 16/1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup prior to news of the injury yesterday .

Trainer Noel Meade has been able to confirm after an x ray that there is no long term damage to the horse and Meade is still optimistic that his horse can be fit for the race on March 18th , "It's quite possible that, in a week's time, he'll be perfect. If we only miss a week, we'll be fine - we could probably miss two." Meade told the Press Association today and continued,"As long as it doesn't come up fast ground, we want to run him."

There has been relatively little reaction from bookmakers although odds of 20/1 can now be obtained from Blue Square and 888Sport.

Notably Ladbrokes who offer non runner -no bet on this race offer only 12/1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup .
