Cheltenham Clerk of the Course Simon Claisse has reported positive feedback from jockeys and racegoers alike regarding the controversial resiting of the infamous second last fence at the course .

The fence has been moved into the home straight from it's previous location at the bottom of the downhill section before the turn and is now sited much closer to the stands . Many racegoers at the Showcase meeting actually stood at the fence to watch the action and thankfully there were very few fallers .

The fence was jumped 118 times over the two day meeting with only two fallers and a hampered and unseated rider . Claisse said that "the old second last was responsible for 75% of fallers last year so this is a big difference ."

Crowds were well up on last year with over 13700 watching Edgbriar win the feature 2 1/2mile Chase for trainer Paul Webber and jockey Dominic Elsworth who was returning from a lengthy injury .

Webber confirmed that Edgbriar may well go for the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham on November 13th for which he is quoted at 20/1 by the sponsors .
