Cheltenham Racecourse Slammed Over Imperial Commander Scarves

Ian Robinson , owner of Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Imperial commander has hit out at Cheltenham Racecourse bosses for selling scarves in his black and white racing colours .

”I’m not a fan of the scarves “” personally, I think scarves are for football grounds “” and I wasn’t consulted about it,“ he said. ”Out of courtesy you’d think they’d refer back to the owners who pay for the upkeep of the horse. On what basis when you enter horses (in the Gold Cup) do you accept they can later exploit the image rights for financial gain?“ added Mr Robinson who heads the Our Friends In The North syndicate that owns Imperial Commander .

Edward Gillespie, the managing director of the racecourse, dismissed Robinson’s claim about image rights.

He said the racecourse did not need permission to use the syndicate’s black and white colours.

Imperial Commander is set to return to training next week and his first target this season is the Betfair Chase at Haydock in November .

Sportingbet are top price about Imperial commander winning the 2011 Cheltenham gold Cup at 11/2 .
