Background
The Ladbrokes business dates back to 1886 when it was founded by Messrs Schwind and Pendleton as commission agents for horses trained at Ladbroke Hall in Worcestershire. The name Ladbrokes was adopted in 1902.
Following the legalisation of retail betting in the UK in 1963 Ladbrokes established a chain of betting shops and was the first company to introduce fixed odds football betting .
